The 2012 Hong Kong legislative election (Chinese: 香港特別行政區第五屆立法會選舉) will be held in September 2012 for the 5th Legislative Council since the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. There will be 70 seats in the fifth Council, ten more than previously, with 35 Members elected by geographical constituencies through direct elections, and 35 Members by functional constituencies. Under new arrangements agreed in a contentious LegCo vote in 2010, five of the functional constituency seats will represent Districts and will be voted for by resident voters in those districts.[1]
